I was born a bastard
Had a mother, no master
She was keen on disaster
I was born a bastard
She brought me to a house on a hill
And the people pointed and waved
from the windowsill
They taught me to love, taught me to kill
I was raised on that hill
In time I learned that the family had a name
And the way they walked and talked
was all the same
While I learned many a thing
I was the only one who did sing
How their silence brought me pain
I came age and it was time for me to roam
Try to fly in this world where I was thrown
Get in the car, forget I had a home
A path that must be crossed alone
‘Cause I was born a bastard
Chosen to be my own master
Had to grow a little faster
I was born a bastard
I was born
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
The latest from indie rock outfit Activity has a charmingly sinister feel, blending in stark rhythms and washes of dark ambient. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 8, 2023
